No Land Grab: Doing The Wrong Thing: Spike Lee Won’t "Get Into the Politics of the Barclays Center"

July 10, 2012

(no land grab) Develop Don’t Destroy Brooklyn

“I’m not going to get into the politics of the Barclays Center; the thing is, it’s up, it’s a reality, and that’s just that.”
Yeah, that is a good point. Really, history shouldn’t be discussed at all because whatever happened is now” a reality and that’s just that.”
Spike Lee has spent a career discussing the politics of both current and historic events. But somehow the politics of the BARCLAYS Center is off limits? Even with the current, very current, scandal in which the bank is embroiled?
C’mon, this can’t be the same Spike Lee who once said, “I think it is very important that films make people look at what they’ve forgotten.”

Spike Lee Blasts President Obama on Oil Spill Response

Spike Lee Blasts President Obama on Oil Spill Response

Spike Lee takes President Obama to task for mishandling the BP oil spill in the Gulf of Mexico.
“I don’t know why Obama ever trusted these BP guys! They would lie to their mothers,” Lee opines to GQ’s Mark Healy. “[Former BP president Tony] Hayward does not give a [bleep]. The thing we don’t talk about is that 11 Americans lost their lives and it took seven weeks to invite their families

to the White House. I’m not trying to bash my man, but that’s a long time.”

Lee also blamed “environmental racism” for the slow response: “If this oil spill would have reached the Hamptons, Martha’s Vineyard [where Spike summers], Cape Cod, that [bleep] would have been fixed.”

What Spike doesn’t get here is that Obama didn’t mean any malicious harm to the poor in the region. By cooperating early with the villains Obama will be able to fund Billions of dollars of social programs on BP’s dime. I actually think that is a good plan of attack in fact, but a better idea would be a competent government that would react when the warning signs hit. BP did report the crack and our present government did nothing. The more tragedy the better an argument against offshore drilling and the more money goes to the Saudis. Clean sustainable energy is a great idea, but it has little to do with hurting present marketable energy. The market will make America honest. You can expect Obama to have to do more back room deals with corporations to milk money from them. It is a win for socialism and a win for foreign companies like BP. Go figure. Spike Lee… you almost get it. But you don’t get it. Yes Obama is using black people. Yes the Black man isn’t getting his… but it is Obama’s intention is to bring Louisiana money through punitive measures. He has no intention of stopping any crises. Had the hole been plugged up early like it would of at Cape Cod where Obama is on vacation then he wouldn’t have more money to invest in creating jobs for black people.
