Where do they send feminists when they die?(Lid)(ibloga)

Ironically it was a speech at a Arab anti-bias conference Thomas was asked about her statements on that video.

“I paid the price for that,” said Thomas, a longtime White House correspondent. “But it was worth it, to speak the truth. The Zionists have to understand that’s their country, too. Palestinians were there long before any European Zionists.”

Alluding to the anti-Semitic claim that Jews control the media, Thomas said:

“You can not say anything (critical) about Israel in this country.
the whole question of money involved in politics.”

”We are owned by propagandists against the Arabs. There’s no question about that. Congress, the White House, and Hollywood, Wall Street, are owned by the Zionists. No question in my opinion. They put their money where there mouth is…We’re being pushed into a wrong direction in every way.

When asked by the interviewer if she had a personal antipathy toward Jews themselves Thomas labeled the Jews as Arab-haters and denied they had an historical connection to the Jewish State She made some renewed claims about the worldwide “Jewish” conspiracy a little later in the interview.

PLAYBOY: That stereotype of Jewish control has been around for more than a century. Do you actually think there’s a secret Jewish conspiracy at work in this country?
THOMAS: Not a secret. It’s very open. What do you mean secret?
PLAYBOY: Well, for instance, explain the connection between Hollywood and what’s happening with the Palestinians.
THOMAS: Power over the White House, power over Congress.
PLAYBOY: By way of contributions?
THOMAS: Everybody is in the pocket of the Israeli lobbies, which are funded by wealthy supporters, including those from Hollywood. Same thing with the financial markets. There’s total control.

Another #feminist cultural elitist who enabled #Nazis?: White House Revises Jewish Heritage Proclamation to Nix Nazi Sympathizer

May 5, 2012
Helen Thomas and Gertrude Stein would of been pals.

(h/t Israel Jews Judaism/by pj MEDIA) The White House just issued a revised version of yesterday’s presidential proclamation declaring May to be Jewish American Heritage Month.

A comparison of the two reveals the change. “From Aaron Copland to Albert Einstein, Gertrude Stein to Justice Louis Brandeis, generations of Jewish Americans have brought to bear some of our country’s greatest achievements and forever enriched our national life,” the May 1 version reads.

The revised proclamation this evening reads, “Generations of Jewish Americans have brought to bear some of our country’s greatest achievements and forever enriched our national life,” omitting all of the names.

Yesterday, under pressure from officials and patrons, the Metropolitan Museum of Art announced its “The Steins Collect” exhibition will include a few sentences about Stein’s Nazi sympathies.

“We welcome the decision by The Met to include information on Gertrude Stein’s collaborationist past and her support for Hitler,” said Ron Meier, ADL New York Regional Director. “Her troubling ideology was inextricably linked to her art collection, and therefore it is appropriate to make reference to it.”

Historians have noted that Stein was a supporter of the Vichy regime, the ADL added, and in 1938 she nominated Adolf Hitler as a candidate for the Nobel Peace Prize.

…it will be interesting what else we can dig up about other gender advocates of the era.

Journalists Warned: Beware of Conservative Bloggers Who Will Target You

August 31, 2011

Times_media_reporter Jeremy Peters issued a warning to young journalists on Wednesday’s front page, “Covering 2012, Youths on the Bus”: There are partisan bloggers out there who are out to embarrass mainstream journalists. Ironic, given that mainstream journalists have been doing just that to conservative politicians for decades.

A group of five fresh-faced reporters from National Journal and CBS News clicked away on their MacBooks one recent afternoon, dutifully taking notes as seasoned journalists from the campaign trail shared their rules of the road.
….
Preparing journalists to cover the presidential campaign these days is also an exercise in indiscretion management. In the new dynamic of campaigns, reporters themselves are targets both of political strategists as well as other journalists and bloggers.

“People are watching you,” Fernando Suarez, a CBS News reporter who covered Hillary Rodham Clinton’s presidential campaign, admonished the young reporters. He recounted once innocently checking his e-mail and Facebook page during a Clinton rally in Oregon. A local blogger looked over his shoulder, snapped a picture of him and then wrote an item criticizing the media for being disengaged.
“Just be smart,” Mr. Suarez added. “Now that everybody has a Flip cam, they’re looking to get you.” The young reporters nodded earnestly.

Peters then provided a list of alleged horrors visited upon liberal journalists by activists and bloggers:

Embarrassment now comes with the swift tapping of thumbs on a BlackBerry or an off-the-cuff quip uploaded to YouTube. Helen Thomas, the trailblazing White House correspondent, saw her career come to an ignominious end last year after she made hostile comments about Israel to a rabbi who filmed the encounter and posted it on his personal Web site. CNN fired Octavia Nasr, its senior editor for Middle East affairs, after she composed a 19-word Twitter message expressing sadness after the death of a Hezbollah leader.

In the hands of a political partisan looking to discredit a news organization, these slip-ups can become powerful and fatal ammunition. “Everything you say can and will be used against you,” said Ron Fournier, the editor-in-chief of National Journal.
Some reporters have even found their personal e-mails leaked and used against them. David Weigel, now a columnist for Slate, was pressured into leaving his job at The Washington Post last year after he attacked conservatives in private messages that found their way to a right-leaning Web site, The Daily Caller.
To be precise, those “private messages” not emails stolen from Weigel’s private email account, but attacks that Weigel posted to “JournoList,” an online message board composed of several hundred liberal journalists and academics, which were subsequently leaked to The Daily Caller.

The willingness by some campaigns and activist groups to not just push back against the news media but to discredit and disparage is something relatively new, born of an erosion of the media’s all-powerful reputation and new technology that allows anyone with an Internet connection to be a messenger.

….
Reporters have far more to worry about these days than missteps of their own making. A new generation of political activists like James O’Keefe, the conservative sabotage artist behind the hidden recordings that helped ignite outrage against Planned Parenthood, Acorn and National Public Radio, are setting traps with the goal of discrediting the media.
Mr. O’Keefe tried last year to lure a CNN correspondent aboard a boat, where he planned to make romantic advances while a hidden camera recorded the encounter. Fortunately for CNN, the correspondent got wise to the scheme and avoided what would have probably been an embarrassing moment. via mrc.org

Halle Berry Makes An Anti-Semitic Comment

June 16, 2011

Hey Halle we can take a bigoted joke. Can you? See how you like it! NO BIG DEAL RIGHT?

TYT thinks Halle Berry’s Anti-semitic Comment is not a big deal. Go figure… the Turks don’t think Jew Jokes are that bad.

…………………..It is almost like the Turk’s sensibilities come right out of Turkey.  Cenk Uygur would of gotten along swell with Helen Thomas in her prime.

Helen Thomas exits anti-AIPAC meeting amid controversy

April 21, 2011

Helen is too Toxic for Code Pink now?

“When Thomas was informed about this, she feared that the focus of the events might shift to her, instead of AIPAC and US policy, and she gracefully withdrew her participation,” the press release by Move Over AIPAC said.

Thomas was quoted by organizers as thanking Move Over AIPAC for inviting her, saying she hoped the conference’s purpose of countering Israel’s perceived influence in Washington will succeed.

Media_httpwwwjpostcom_iwtfe

“I am delighted that people are coming together for this gathering and I want to make sure that the focus stays on AIPAC and US policy, not me,” she was quoted saying by the anti-Israel lobby group.

A week earlier conference organizers announced Thomas would be the keynote speaker at the event in a press release which was removed from the Web on Wednesday.

“We’re delighted to announce that Helen Thomas, who spent her career questioning the powerful and speaking out against war and injustice, will be joining us in DC as a keynote speaker at the Move Over AIPAC,” a press release stated.

Move Over AIPAC has been endorsed by the likes of political scientists Stephen Walt and John Meirsheimer, who wrote a book criticizing the “Israeli lobby” in Washington, and Jewish Voice for Peace, a leftist Jewish organization involved in attempts to break the blockade on Gaza, according to its website.

Several messages and phone calls to Walt, Meirsheimer and JVP went unanswered.

Medea Benjamin, a spokesperson for the event, elaborated on differences of opinion among participants regarding Thomas and her reputation.

“Some within the coalition think that the remarks were anti-Semitic and condemned what she said,” Benjamin said.

“Others thought that it was a slip of the tongue and that her extended comments afterwards were a good explanation. Personally, I’ve been an admirer of her for years and her protest of the Iraq war.”

Asked if inviting a speaker who in the past made inflammatory comments about Jews proved the point of the gathering’s critics that it was pushing an anti- Semitic agenda under the guise of an anti-Israeli lobby event, Benjamin responded in the negative.

“The conference is really to talk about – and many of us are Jews – is to work for a policy where Israel and Palestine can live together in peace and get a process started,” Benjamin, who is Jewish, said.

“My values are Jewish and I believe in compassion for all and AIPAC does not represent my Jewish values. Helen Thomas is one of 30 people who have been invited and we are a community

Helen Thomas leader of the BDS

April 17, 2011

A series of protests against Israeli policy and its support by AIPAC are planned in May to coincide with the AIPAC conference in the U.S. capital and Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s speech there. The protests, under the heading “Move over AIPAC,” will include demonstrations opposite the building where Netanyahu will speak and Congress, and a series of lectures and meetings with critics of Israel, including veteran journalist Helen Thomas who lost her place in the White House press room after saying Jews should leave Palestine and go back to Poland, Germany and the United States. Thomas will give the keynote address at the Move Over AIPAC conference, and will receive an award from the women’s pacifist organization Code Pink, one of the hundred left-wing American organizations behind the conference.

On Friday night, a favorite cafe among progressives, Busboys and Poets, gathered letters to Gazans; the next aid flotilla in May will deliver the messages to the Gaza residents. A separate room in the cafe hosted a meeting of around 250 activists with Omar Barghouti, founder of the Boycott, Divestment and Sanctions campaign. Barghouti, who recently released a book on BDS, was winding up a book tour that included Columbia, Harvard, Brandeis and other universities.

Helen Thomas: I thought Obama was Liberal Because He Is Black….Israelis are Ruthless, Running an Open Prison & Brutal Oppression

I went to Susan Rice, who is our representative at the UN. And I said, “how could you, how could you raise your hand in a veto?” She said, “I would have lost my job.” You are not allowed to annex occupied land under the UN and under international law. The blockade of Gaza is an open prison. The Israelis are ruthless and not only have they been, they have been allowed to be the cause of support of America. American Presidents are afraid to say no to Israelis. It is political suicide. Especially if you are running again, which of course Obama is.
Only President Carter had been brave enough, courageous enough, to take them on; against their brutal oppression of the Palestinians. The bottom line is you can’t take what doesn’t belong to you.
For all the military might and all the nuclear arsenal, the Israelis live in fear, there is no question about that, and even more so now because of the Arab uprising all over. They hate that, I’m sure, because they have always false thought that they would be the only Democracy in the Middle East. What kind of democracy makes most of the citizens oppressed and not citizens, lower class, taking their land, taking their homes, killing their children? Now, I think I should lighten up, don’t you?
I’ve always assumed that President Obama would be liberal because he’s black. What a false assumption that was.
Question: Why do you think Obama hasn’t said anything to help the Palestinians get any of their land back? Why do you think Obama has done nothing to help the Palestinians get their land back?
Thomas: Politics – once you get elected, he has to have billions, not millions of dollars, and you can’t antagonize your big bankers. I don’t think he has ever been a real liberal, not like I am a liberal, the good old days. I don’t think he really cares that much, I am sorry to say that.
Question: Can you please explain your comments from last year that caused you to retire from the White House press?

INTERNATIONAL LAW REGARDING THE
LAND OF ISRAEL AND JERUSALEM

Thomas: I said the Israelis should go home, wherever it is. If it was Palestine, ok. But for everywhere else, to push people out of their homes, it is a horrible thing. Where is their conscience? I want to know. What right do they have to do that? To kill and to take someone else’s home and that is what they have done of the years. Even today they are bulldozing homes, killing children, killing the women, who are these people? How dare they? When is America going to stand up for the real international law? I mean absolutely, when we won WWII, we left, we didn’t occupy the other lands, we didn’t, but when the Israelis due with their military might, the US supports them, when they take what doesn’t belong them. And that is absolutely wrong. We provide them with the military money, we provide them with the money, they couldn’t exist one day without us. We are equally guilty.
Question: Do you think Jerusalem has become another settlement?
Thomas: I hope not. Jerusalem should be an international city. That was what was ordered for many years ago at the UN, except we abstained, I think. Of course Jerusalem is an international city. It should be owned by all religions and all the people.
Question: What solution do you offer for the Palestinian-Israeli conflict? Do you take a two-state solution or one-state?
Thomas: Well, I think we have to bow to the inevitable that they are there. But, I think we have to stop them from taking more and more land. And we also have to get them out of their illegitimate places: the West  Bank, Gaza, and so forth. They have blockaded Gaza, they treat them like… There will be more and more flotillas and they deserve it.
Question: What steps do you think need to be taken to get the Palestinians out of occupation?
Thomas: Passive resistance, I think because there is no way to fight the Israeli military might. But I do think a real stand down on the part of the whole Arab world will put them in their place. I believe that we can do it. It worked with Gandhi, it worked with Martin Luther King. Martin Luther King during the height of the civil rights movement went to a restaurant that he knew was making a sit down strike and he made everyone of his supporters put their guns in the bag. Passive resistance works and it saves life.
Question: Why do you think there is such a huge disconnect with US media and with what’s going on over there (Middle East)?
Thomas: I think the Israeli propaganda is so effective and you won’t have a job in this country if you go against them. You can’t say one thing about Israel. I can call the President anything in the book; I’ve said that many times. Nobody says anything.  I can call him anything. But, I cannot say one thing about Israel or you don’t have a job or you’re anti-Semitic even if you are Semite.
Question: Can you explain what the word anti-Semitism is and how it’s been missued in the media?

Are these Jews in Jerusalem in 1948 the occupier?

Thomas: That’s not what it is, but I sure know how it’s been missued. I think it dates back to Hitler and that’s the way they try to defame you, by saying you are anti-Semitic. I don’t hate anyone. But, I sure have had trouble not to in a lot cases. We are supposed to love each other, but how can you love people who hate?

Ben-Gurion, who was the first President Prime Minister of Israel said “show them no mercy.” Everything they did, village after village. The Israeli army was created by terrorist groups: Irgun,???, Haganah, who formed the Israeli army. They initiated terrorism, Begin bragged about it in his first book.
Question: How do you respond to a person’s claim that Palestine is their land since King David?
Thomas: Well Rabin said, “where’s the deed, where’s the deed?” G-d apparently doesn’t give deeds.
Question: What do you think of the rumors of the 3rd intifada? Do you think it will be successful?
Thomas: I’d like to see a stand down, throughout the whole Arab world. Passive resistance, resisting, blockading, stopping the whole ???. I think that’s the only solution. It’s the one that saves lives.
Question: Do you think it will happen?
Thomas: We need another Gandhi, or Tutu, or whatever.
Question: How do you feel about the popular demonization of pro-Palestinian events and supporters?
Thomas: That’s wonderful.
Question: The demonization of pro-Palestinian supporters.

Thomas: Dehumanization? How do I feel? Well, you’ve got a victim here.

Two Helen Thomas Farces: What She Says and How She’s Ridiculed

April 1, 2011

It’s amazing how bad the public discussion of issues is nowadays. Here’s a tiny example. Helen Thomas was fired for her anti-Jewish statements and was recently interviewed in Playboy where she made more such remarks that are–correctly–being interpreted as antisemitic.

Mrs.Twit
The Twits, author Roald Dahl
(Another Norwegian
who believed this shit)
illustrated by Quentin Blake, 1980.

But why does Thomas hate Israel so much, a hatred that spills over into antisemitism? I haven’t seen a single person who’s gotten it right. She’s no neo-Nazi or nut case. Thomas is of Lebanese descent, albeit Christian, and basically views herself on this issue at least as an Arab.  The important factor is not her eccentricity but her typicality.
What Thomas is doing, then, and has done for many years, is to express ideas common in the Arabic-speaking world which are becoming increasingly common in the West.

Patty Herst and the Herst Corporation that fired Helen Thomas….

That’s why she’s significant and that’s where she’s coming from. Her blend of anti-Zionism and antisemitism–using traditional anti-Jewish themes, sometimes applied to Israel and at times to all Jews–is just like what exists in a high percentage of households in the Arabic-speaking and Muslim-majority worlds.

We’re not talking about a funny old lady but about a worldview held by millions of people in a lot of countries, by revolutionary Islamists and terrorists, and by a growing number of people on Western college campuses and in elite circles. This is not some joke but rather a “craziness” that kills and shapes the fate of whole nations and continents.

Thomas has a long history of anti-Israel rhetoric at White House press briefings. In 2006, Thomas posed a question to then-Press Secretary Tony Snow that suggested the United States supports “collective punishment for Lebanon and Palestine.”

Snow responded, “Well, thank you for the Hezbollah view.”
