A #Hagel and #AlJazeera

February 14, 2013
It has now been revealed that the government of Qatar, which owns Al Jazeera, was a major contributor to the Atlantic Council when Hagel was its chairman.

(More on Hagel’s Al Jazeera and Arab Connections)

The Atlantic Council describes itself as a “preeminent, non partisan institution devoted to promoting transatlantic cooperation and international security.” Hagel is chairman of the group. Documents released by the Atlantic Council, in response to the controversy over Hagel’s nomination, show funding from several foreign governments, including Qatar and Saudi Arabia. A search also reveals that Atlantic Council officials have been appearing regularly on Al Jazeera, giving the mouthpiece of the Muslim Brotherhood credibility as a “news organization.”
According to the council’s own website, these appearances include:

  • Barbara Slavin, senior fellow at the Atlantic Council’s South Asia Center, was interviewed on Al Jazeera about the U.S. cyber-attacks against Iran.
  • Michele Dunne, director of the Council’s Rafik Hariri Center for the Middle East, appeared on Al Jazeera’s Inside Story Americas to discuss Syria.
  • J. Peter Pham, director of the Michael S. Ansari Africa Center, discussed the situation in Mali on Al Jazeera English.
  • Barry Pavel, director of the Council’s Program on International Security, appeared on Al Jazeera English’s show Inside Story Americas to discuss the deployment of 200 U.S. Marines to Australia.

In addition to Al Jazeera, Atlantic Council senior fellow Barbara Slavin appeared on the far-left MSNBC cable channel to sing the praises of Hagel as “non-ideological.”
But anti-communist blogger Trevor Loudon points out that Chuck Hagel serves on the board of the Ploughshares Fund, another of the George Soros-funded organizations, and that it is a “partner organization” of the pro-Marxist Institute for Policy Studies.
In addition to his role as chairman of the Atlantic Council and a board member of the Ploughshares Fund, Hagel serves as a Distinguished Professor in the Practice of National Governance at Georgetown University’s School of Foreign Service, which maintains campuses in Washington, D.C. and Qatar. Funding for the campus in Qatar comes from the Qatar Foundation, established by the ruling family.
Not surprisingly, Al Jazeera has featured interviews with faculty members from the Georgetown University School of Foreign Service in Qatar, about the acquisition of Current TV and the violence in Syria. (MORE via canadafreepress.com)

How Obama got Georgia to vote for a “Palestinian” state

December 18, 2012

But, but: Obama is a Christian, isn’t he?
U.S. ambassador tells Georgia to vote for a “Palestinian” state

In “U.S. Ambassador Tells Georgia to Vote for a ‘Palestinian’ State” in the American Thinker today, Pamela Geller reveals an extraordinary example of the Obama Administration’s ongoing betrayal of Israel:

From the former Soviet Republic of Georgia comes news of an extraordinary betrayal by the Obama Administration. As Obama continues to abandon freedom in his support of Muslim Brotherhood and Sharia revolutions and regimes in Egypt and elsewhere, he has taken behind-the-scenes steps to further the international isolation of Israel, the only democracy in that Middle East.

Just before the November 29 United Nations vote granting non-member state observer status, the U.S. ambassador to Georgia, Richard Norland, an Obama appointee, met with Georgian Prime Minister Bidzina Ivanishvili. During their conversation, Norland recommended that the Prime Minister that Georgia should vote in favor of a Palestinian state.
This happened despite the U.S.’s official opposition, as Secretary of State Hillary Clinton called the vote “unfortunate and counterproductive … plac[ing] further obstacles in the path of peace.” Israeli Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu said on the day of the vote: “None of the vital interests of peace appear in the resolution that will be put forward before the General Assembly today and that is why Israel cannot accept it.” He was right. But in Georgia, the U.S. was betraying a steadfast and true ally.
This information comes from Gabriel M. Mirilashvili, a prominent businessman and corporation owner in Georgia, who is Vice-President of the Euro-Asian Jewish Congress and head of the World Congress of Georgian Jews. Mirilashvili says that he heard this from Ivanishvili himself, and that there exists an official record of the conversation between Norland and Ivanishvili. When Mirilashvili urged Ivanishvili to oppose the Palestinian statehood resolution, Ivanishvili responded that the American ambassador had told him to support it.
It is also interesting to note that a few days before this meeting, George Soros came to Georgia and also met with Prime Minister Ivanishvili, and they agreed to collaborate on various initiatives. President Obama’s close ties to Soros goes back to the 2007 and the run up to the 2008 presidential election.
Meanwhile, another source said that Georgia is harboring Chechen jihadists — killers who have Georgian passports. When some of these jihadis were arrested in Turkey, the Turkish press published the fact that they were traveling on Georgian passports. What’s more, their leader, Umar Sugaipov, who is not currently in Georgia, is a former deputy head of security for the late President of the Chechen Republic of Ichkeria, Aslan Maskhadov….

The Jewish Businessman Who Beats Warren Buffet At His Own Game

November 23, 2012

bruce-berkowitzA little-known Miami-based finance guru, who 10 years ago set up a mutual fund to mimic the value investing style of his hero, Warren Buffett, had outperformed the Oracle of Omaha over the decade — and by a wide margin. Bruce Berkowitz, who owns and runs the $8.6 billion Fairholme Fund has averaged a whopping 12 percent annual return since he opened its doors Dec. 29, 1999. Buffett, who invests through his Berkshire Hathaway conglomerate, has posted an average annual return of 23 percent over a 30-year period ending in the 1990s, but has returned just 3 percent annual returns over the last decade.
By comparison, the S&P 500 index has averaged a 2 percent annual decline over the last 10 years.
How has Berkowitz, a longtime financial professional with little or none of Buffett’s love of the spotlight, bested his hero?
Well, for starters, he cashed in on highly profitable sectors — like financial and energy stocks — and knew when to bolt.
“He got into financials [early in this decade], made a lot of money and then got out before they blew up,” said Michael Breen, an analyst with Morningstar. “He did the same with energy stocks in early 2002, then got out before they had problems.”.
By contrast, Buffett stayed too long at the financials and energy party and was burned.
Citing Buffett’s refusal to own technology stocks in the 1990s, Berkowitz says he ran away from a lot of financials for the same reason: “I couldn’t understand them. I couldn’t understand the assets. I couldn’t even understand if some of them belonged to the government or not,” he said.
Buffett, said analysts, has also done something else Berkowitz has avoided: Berkshire Hathaway has become an investment behemoth and that has compromised its nimbleness.
That means it has lost some of its ability to buy bargains quietly. Indeed, Berkowitz says size is why he is doing better than Berkshire Hathaway.
Married, with three kids, Berkowitz has no desire to become the next Warren Buffett media darling.
“I do not enjoy doing television,” he said, trying to explain how someone can post such a stellar record compared to the renowned Oracle of Omaha but not get that much face time on TV. “I do as little as possible.”
“You mean no one has offered $1.6 million to have lunch with you?” he was asked, a reference to the most recent annual have- lunch-with-Warren auction’s winning bid.
“Why would anyone offer me a thousand dollars for that?” he asked.

This guy owns a lot of AIG. The company has seen its investor stake increase with money with the likes of George Soros himself. This is the company the country bought into and put on corporate welfare. Supposedly Berkowitz invests in Jewish history. What is it that he is buying? does anyone know anything about Berkowitz? I’m not saying he’s a bad guy… I don’t know him. I just would like to know who he is and what interest he has in Jewish history. What kind of Jewish history is this guy banking?

Soros’ and Silverman’s contempt for Jewish education

September 28, 2012
Joel Pollak writes than an Obama election ad made by Samuel L. Jackson (pictured) and financed by the Soros family shows contempt for Jewish education.

Jewish education is all about profanity, bestiality, and dishonesty–if George Soros, Samuel L. Jackson, and Sarah Silverman are to be believed.

The so-called “Jewish Council for Education and Research,” in reality a super PAC backed by Soros’s son Alexander, has produced a new anti-Romney ad in which Jackson exhorts a family to “Wake the F— Up!” and work for President Barack Obama’s re-election. Earlier this year, the Jewish Council released an ad in which Silverman simulates sex with a dog to mock Jewish GOP donor Sheldon Adelson.

There is nothing “Jewish” at all about these ads–far from it. Yet Alexander Soros–with money, no doubt, from Soros père–uses the “Jewish” label to give the imprimatur of respectability to these profane and profoundly unfunny ads.

Not even the smug liberalism which emanates from some corners of the Jewish institutional world would stoop as low as Soros. He has defamed the enterprise of Jewish education and the Jewish community. In any other context–i.e. if a Jew were not involved–the abuse of the “Jewish” label would be considered antisemitic.
In addition to profound bigotry, what the “Jewish Council” ads suggest is the desperation of Obama supporters in Washington and Hollywood. The Jackson ad suggests that Democrats fear and know that their supporters are less motivated to vote today than in 2008. It repeats several outright lies about Romney–i.e. that he does not believe in any kind of safety net–and in the end resorts to profanity, not only from Jackson but from a child.
The irony of a self-described “Jewish” organization releasing such an ad during the Jewish high holidays and at a time of profound threats to Israel and to Jews in Europe suggests an insensitivity bordering on malice.

Read the whole thing.  I won’t post the disgusting ad, but you can find a link to it at the link in this post.

REPORT: George Soros Is Giving A Lot Of Credit To American Apparel

March 12, 2012
George Soros put his investment into the trend and then pulls out of the market when the collectivist mentality cannibalizes. Why would anyone be shocked that he would invest in fashion?

Media_httpstatic8busi_drhve
(business insider) The debt-laden, controversial, American-made clothing chain reportedly has a new financial backer to bail it out: George Soros.

From the New York Post’s James Covert:The billionaire octogenarian — who, like American Apparel’s controversial CEO Dov Charney, has lately been entangled in lawsuits with young, beautiful women — is backing a firm that’s in talks to extend a credit line worth as much as $80 million to the cash-strapped clothing chain, The Post has learned.
The credit facility from Crystal Financial, a Boston-based firm that boasts Soros’ hedge fund as its lead investor, will immediately replace and expand a $75 million revolving credit line from Bank of America that matures in July, sources said.

Specific terms of the credit agreement couldn’t be learned, but it will be “long term,” albeit at a higher interest rate than at the Bank of America facility, according to a source briefed on the negotiations. The deal could be finalized as soon as this week. Read the whole story at NYPost.com.

were you really that stupid as to think that fashion was liberating? fashion is the mechanism that George Soros understands and manipulates. fashion is what put Obama in office. Do you remember when you realized that we were being taken advantage of by the Democrats during the election and everyone called you a racist? not all that different than not fitting in because of your clothing or a haircut. Everyone buys into fashion…

As Criticism Over Antisemitism Increases–Media Matters Digs In Its Heels

February 2, 2012

(Yid With Lid)…Media Matters and its Jew-hater in Chief MJ Rosenberg, the talons are out. These pages have provided many examples over the years how Rosenberg accuses American Jews of dual loyalty with the term Israel-firsters), or how he claims the “evil Zionist lobby” controls both the media and the U.S. foreign policy.
Rosenberg eve uses the term neo-con in a similar fashion to another Jew-Hater Pat Buchanan, as a slang pejorative term for Jews who are politically conservative. Rosenberg accuses those Israel-firster neo-cons of everything from pushing the US into the war with Iraq and now trying to manipulate the US into a war with Iran.
MJ Rosenberg is not backing down. Ever since the controversy began to build he has dug in his heals, tweeting hatred and claiming that those who criticize the use of the term are just trying to silence his “progressive Jewish voice.
Here are just a few of his tweets from the past few days:

Gee, I thought the article was about Obama, not the US. Obama is so wrong about so many things like taxes, Obamacare etc., along with the Middle East. Wait does that make MJ Rosenberg an Obama-firster?

So now the line is–“Bash the Jews and it will prevent a war with Iran?”

Is he really is claiming that no one cared about the Holocaust until the 6-Day-War when Jews could begin to exploit it to protect Israel?

Think about how much influence Media Matters has on Youtube. Think about how the media is framed in replay… now imagine all of it being controlled by people whose fetish is hatred of those who are a minority surrounded by people who want to murder the minority. I know what you are thinking… you are thinking… well I don’t trust Media Matters on some issues, but I listen to them on others. It is shocking sometimes (speaking as someone who follows politics closely)… we all come in thinking just like this before we realize that all the little issues we thought we saw eye to eye with the left was not there at all… from global warming… to Islam… to gender and sex issues: The foundation of the leftist establishment from the top… down all the way to their founding socialist intellectual writers. The left is hatred. The left is bigotry. The left is a denial of truth because the left does not like difference. The left is evil.

Ron Paul and Non-Intervention during SLAVERY and a NAZI Holocaust

December 27, 2011

The Paul Pot and the Paulestinians (Sultan Knish) For all his talk of the Founders, they were men who weren’t rooted to a single way of doing things. Hamilton, Jefferson and Madison had their fundamental differences, but none of them were so rooted in their way of thinking that they were unable to deal with reality…. Centralization and spending aren’t the problem, they’re the symptoms of the problem which is a corrupt technocratic political culture that he is completely unequipped to address, not least because his own nose has been caught in the trough, but mostly because he isn’t a leader.(MORE)

(Carl) In this 2009 video, Ron Paul accuses Israel of creating Hamas (Hat Tip: Yid with Lid).

At the beginning of this month, US Ambassador to Belgium Howard Gutman, an Obama bundler, accused Israel of creating anti-Semitism. George Soros said the same thing in 1999 and in 2003. And now Ron Paul.

(1) I don’t remember Israel being keen on the Gaza elections with oversight by Jimmy Carter. (2) The claim that Israel created Hamas is false… and was originally published in a French Magazine.

(Carl)In a posting in Right Wing News, Eric Dondero, who served as a senior aid to the Texas Congressman for 12 years, confirms that Ron Paul wishes Israel did not exist (Hat Tip: Memeorandum).

Is Ron Paul a “racist.” In short, No. I worked for the man for 12 years, pretty consistently. I never heard a racist word expressed towards Blacks or Jews come out of his mouth. Not once. And understand, I was his close personal assistant. It’s safe to say that I was with him on the campaign trail more than any other individual, whether it be traveling to Fairbanks, Alaska or Boston, Massachusetts in the presidential race, or across the congressional district to San Antonio or Corpus Christi, Texas.

Is Ron Paul an Anti-Semite? Absolutely No. As a Jew, (half on my mother’s side), I can categorically say that I never heard anything out of his mouth, in hundreds of speeches I listened too over the years, or in my personal presence that could be called, “Anti-Semite.” No slurs. No derogatory remarks.
He is however, most certainly Anti-Israel, and Anti-Israeli in general. He wishes the Israeli state did not exist at all. He expressed this to me numerous times in our private conversations. His view is that Israel is more trouble than it is worth, specifically to the America taxpayer. He sides with the Palestinians, and supports their calls for the abolishment of the Jewish state, and the return of Israel, all of it, to the Arabs.
Again, American Jews, Ron Paul has no problem with. In fact, there were a few Jews in our congressional district, and Ron befriended them with the specific intent of winning their support for our campaign. (One synagogue in Victoria, and tiny one in Wharton headed by a well-known Jewish lawyer).
On the incident that’s being talked about in some blog media about the campaign manager directing me to a press conference of our opponent Lefty Morris in Victoria to push back on Anti-Jewish charges from the Morris campaign, yes, that did happen. The Victoria Advocate described the press conference very accurately. Yes, I was asked (not forced), to attend the conference dressed in a Jewish yarlmuke, and other Jewish adornments.
There was another incident when Ron finally agreed to a meeting with Houston Jewish Young Republicans at the Freeport office. He berated them, and even shouted at one point, over their un-flinching support for Israel. So, much so, that the 6 of them walked out of the office. I was left chasing them down the hallway apologizing for my boss.

(Carl) one of those infamous newsletters you’ve been reading so much about for the last few days suggested that the Mossad was responsible for the first World Trade Center bombing in 1993 (Hat Tip: Memeorandum).

Government beaming radio waves into your brain at the behest of the military industrial complex? Cynthia McKinney, the presidential candidate for the Green Party in 2008 …was endorsed by Ron Paul.

(Daled Amos) Jeffrey Scott Shapiro writes that in 2009, in answer to a question, Ron Paul responded that he would not have sent troops in to prevent the murder of 6 million Jews in the Nazi Holocuast:

And so I asked Congressman Paul: if he were President of the United States during World War II, and as president he knew what we now know about the Holocaust, but the Third Reich presented no threat to the U.S., would he have sent American troops to Nazi Germany purely as a moral imperative to save the Jews?
And the Congressman answered:

“No, I wouldn’t. I wouldn’t risk American lives to do that. If someone wants to do that on their own because they want to do that, well, that’s fine, but I wouldn’t do that.”

Paul then looked at me, and I politely thanked him for his time. He smiled at me again and nodded his head, and many of his young followers were also smiling, and nodding their heads in agreement. Clearly, I was the only one in the room who was disturbed by his response.
When I first presented the story of Paul’s comments about the Holocaust to major news media outlets two years ago, they were so stunned they were afraid to publish my story, and as a result it has remained unpublished until now.
I went to great lengths afterwards to learn more about the basis for Paul’s comments. I spoke to Eric Dondero, a former senior aide for Paul, in February 2010. Dondero is quoted in a Weekly Standard article today about Paul’s isolationist beliefs.
When I called Dondero again this morning, and told him I was finally going forward with the story, he told me that Paul had made similar comments to him.
“He told me numerous times it was not worth it to intervene to save the Jews in World War II,” Dondero said. “I don’t think that’s because he’s an antisemite. It’s because he’s an extreme isolationist and he’s trying to be 100% principled–he doesn’t think there’s any reason to intervene for human rights or any other reason anywhere on the planet.”
Calls to Rep. Paul’s congressional office and campaign office last week and this morning were not returned.”

Similarly, in the same context of describing Ron Paul’s isolationaism, Shapiro notes a 2007 interview on Meet the Press where Paul said that Lincoln should never have gone to war to free the slaves:

Whatever else you may think of Ron Paul’s argument about the ease with which the government could have bought all of the slaves and freed them, it is disconcerting to hear Ron Paul say there is no longer any slavery today.
According to E. Benjamin Skinner, writing last year in Time Magazine about South Africa’s New Slave Trade and the Campaign to Stop It:

Despite more than a dozen international conventions banning slavery in the past 150 years, there are more slaves today than at any point in human history.

Someone should tell Ron Paul that ideology does not trump the facts.
