Anat Kamm: Former IDF secretary tells court her four-and-a-half-year prison sentence for serious espionage crimes is "too harsh."

November 16, 2011

(JPost) Anat Kamm, the former IDF OC Central Command secretary convicted of serious espionage crimes, including passing classified documents to journalist Uri Blau, appealed to the Supreme Court against her sentence on Wednesday. In October, 22-year-old Kamm was sentenced to four and a half years in prison. That sentence is due to begin on Sunday, and Kamm has been ordered to present herself at the Tel Aviv District Court on that day to be taken to prison. (MORE)

Anat Kamm gets 4.5 years for stealing military documents

November 9, 2011
(jpost.com) (h/t Jew Pi) The judges noted that, in her defense, Kamm had said she acted out of “stupidity” rather than for ideological reasons. Her father, in character witness testimony in court, had said his daughter had not intended to harm state security but was merely “foolish, stupid, idiotic and vapid.”
…but the online progressive circuit seems to think she was a hero who knew exactly what she was doing.  Very odd that a stupid girl would be seen as such a role model. What is the incentive for other Israelis to not follow her footsteps? Her jail term is the same length of time and effort as a college diploma. after she gets out she will become a hero to the left. heck… if I were a Palestinian sympathizer I would take the deal too!

Israeli ex-soldier faces prison over leaks – Middle East – Al Jazeera English

Kamm copied more than 2,000 military documents from army computers between 2005 and 2007 [Reuters]
She deserves worse then she is getting. Her arrogance is disgusting. It is a shame she is attractive looking, her real punishment should be to live with those that she is so concerned about saving the lives of. Better yet… they should send her to Jullian Assange… he seems to know how to treat the idealistic pretty ladies.
(Al Jazeera) h/t (Bat-Zion Susskind-Sacks) An Israeli court has sentenced a former soldier to four and a half years in prison for leaking classified military documents to a newspaper, which later reported allegations of a policy to assassinate Palestinian fighters.
A three-judge panel handed Anat Kamm a 54-month sentence and an additional 18-month suspended term on Sunday, with judges writing in the court document that they had found “the motive behind taking the documents was mainly ideological”.
Kamm, 24,copiedmore than 2,000 military documents from army computers between 2005 and 2007, when she served as a junior clerk in the office of the Israeli commander responsible for the illegally occupied West Bank.About 700 were classified.
Avigdor Feldman, one of Kamm’s lawyers, said at the time she was convicted that she had “believed she stumbled onto [evidence of] war crimes.”
She later passed some of the information, including operational plans, personnel lists and lists of targetsto Uri Blau, a correspondent for Israel’s Haaretz daily.
The newspaper subsequently reported in 2008 thatsenior army officers had authorised the assassination of Palestinian fighters, in a possible violation of Israeli law.
Press freedom questioned
All ofBlau’s stories were approved by Israel’s military censor before they were published, but the information contained within them led to a search for his source.
Kamm was arrested in December 2009, though her detention was made public only four months later. She has remained under house arrest throughout the proceedings against her.
Kamm was convicted in February of possessing and distributing secret information, after striking a plea bargain
with Tel Aviv District Court, where judges agreed in exchange to drop more serious charges of harming state security.
Her case has sparked debate in Israel on the limits of press freedom in a nation where most men and women are subject to compulsory military conscription at 18, and go on to serve in the reserves, and many become privy to classified information.
In summing up Kamm’s sentence, the judges appeared to point at her case as a lesson to other soldiers.

“The military establishment is built on the service of young, motivated people who fill complicated and secret roles,” they wrote.”If the army cannot trust the soldiers serving in various units and exposed to sensitive issues, then it cannot function
as a regular army.”
Israel has justifiedits assassination practice as necessary to combat and deter potential attackers, while saying it has refined its methods to kill its targets more precisely.

Obviously the Feminist Nazis at Feministing are OFF to a predictable rant

June 12, 2011

there were complaints on a feminist blog…

why did you use this video *on a feminist site* as a chance to air your ‘joke-stereotypes’ of Jewish women — as nagging, manipulative, overbearing shrews with poor health (and some connection to a ‘Jewish lobby’)? It’s totally gratuitous. via Kh-L comment @ feministing.com

here is the quote:

Because Jewish mothers like to bug their kids about hurrying up and getting married and giving me some grandchildren already before I die because I’m not going to be around forever you know my health isn’t what it used to be, and right now the New York state legislature is standing in the way of that.
Seven years after founding Feministing, Jessica Valenti (one of the most well-known femisogynists) announced that she was leaving the blog she created. Besides being busy with other projects, she’s 32 now, which is like, totally old, and Feministing is only for young femisogynists. And everyone knows that 32 is practically grandma territory. And while Valenti said she would still be involved in an advisory capacity, her departure caused much sadness and sorrow among lefty feminists in the blogosphere. via NewsReal

Another Perspective on the Anat Kamm Affair: How could a person like Ayalla Procaccia remain on Supreme Court??

April 25, 2010

Anat Kamm the young woman who stole some 2,000 documents – many top secret – from the head of Central Command during her IDF service, and turned them over to a http://xrl.us/Haaretz reporter who is currently hiding out somewhere in England. Anat Kam has been under house arrest

via israelmatzav.blogspot.com

Meanwhile… Zionist young girls who chose to disobey the state because the state was throwing Jews out of their homes do not have the privilege that Anat Kamm does to be under house arrest, and have to suffer a jail term before conviction.  The Jewish Leftist establishment in Israel is hypocrisy at it’s highest level.

You see, my daughter Chaya was also deemed a danger to public security and the State. Five years ago, at the age of 14, she was arrested during an anti-disengagement demonstration and accused of speaking rudely to a policewoman. She was brought before the juvenile judge in Tel Aviv, not far from where an 18-year old Anat was living at the time. The State prosecutor in our case asked the judge to keep my Chaya in jail until the end of the legal proceedings against her. On what grounds? Chaya was, you see, an ideologically motivated criminal. And because of her ideology she was unstopable. And dangerous to public and the State.

What was so dangerous about this girl? She participated in another non-violent civil disobedience demonstration a month before, was arrested, and released to yeshuv arrest, which forbade her from going to a similar demonstration. And now she disregarded that prohibition and refused to sit quetly while her friends were being thrown out of their homes. Thus, in the words of the prosecutor, her danger to the security of the State and the public was clear. Incredibly, the judge accepted this ridiculous argument.
In counter-argument I asked the judge to release my daughter to a full house arrest. I promised that we would keep her under 24/7 supervision. To no avail. The judge decided that we, the parents, could not be trusted to keep our dangerously criminal child from harming the Israeli public.

Punishment for Anat Kamm of @Haaretz

April 17, 2010
Perhaps a live Iranian prison might be just want Anat needs. Let’s show this totalitarian hussy what a real transformation of society would be like.  Take it in the tuchus for CHANGE Anat! Her prison sentence should be an Iranian style rape live on the internet!
Anat Kamm said she is a messianic leftist.
“I didn’t succeed in changing enough things that it was important to me to change during my army service, and I thought that I would bring about that change by exposing them. That’s why it was important to me to inform the public about the IDF’s policies in the territories.”

Over the past two weeks Israel has been rocked by a major espionage scandal in which the Haaretz newspaper plays a central role. To understand the significance of the scandal, it is worthwhile to preface a discussion of it with a look at a smaller story Haaretz developed this week.

Amira Hass

On Sunday, Haaretz’s Amira Hass reported that in January, the IDF published a new military order that paves the way for the mass expulsion of illegal aliens from Judea and Samaria. The story sported the disturbing headline, “IDF order will enable mass deportation from West Bank.”

In a follow-up on Monday, Hass reported that 10 self-described human rights organizations (all funded by the New Israel Fund) sent a joint letter to Defense Minister Ehud Barak asking him to rescind the order. She noted, too, that, “the international media also has taken great interest in the story.”
And indeed, on Wednesday, a Google news search for “IDF West Bank deportation order” drew nearly 20,000 results.
Also on Monday, Haaretz published an editorial based on Hass’s stories. Titled, “IDF bid to expel West Bank Palestinians is a step too far,” the editorial asserted, “Implementing this new military order is not only likely to spark a new conflagration in the territories, it is liable to give the world clear-cut proof that Israel’s aim is a mass deportation of Palestinians from the West Bank.”
That is, Israel is fomenting a war and Israel deserves to lose that war because it is the villain.
On Wednesday, Haaretz reported that Jordan had joined it in condemning Israel.
That’s quite an accomplishment for an Israeli newspaper with a negligible share of the domestic market.
The only problem is that the order Hass reported on is 41 years old. After creating an international scandal, on Wednesday Haaretz acknowledged that the supposedly new order has been in place since 1969. What changed in January is that the IDF decided to expand the rights of illegal aliens in Judea and Samaria to pre-deportation hearings.
This was not a change for the worse in the status of illegal residents. It was a change for the better.
And still, due to Haaretz‘s misreporting, Israeli diplomats are being called into the chanceries of the world and raked over the coals for the country’s alleged plot to conduct a mass expulsion of Palestinians.
Haaretz accomplished two things with this story. It weakened Israel abroad, which clearly serves its ideological purposes. And it demonstrated its enormous power to damage Israel’s international image at will, which of course puts Israel’s law enforcement and judicial arms on notice as they prosecute and adjudicate the Haaretz spy scandal.
HAARETZ’S MANIPULATION of the deportation story bears a striking similarity to the way it manipulated its own spy scandal. That scandal was under a total court-issued gag order that barred the local media from reporting on it until last Thursday.
That gag order gave Haaretz the opportunity to manipulate the story to its advantage before the state authorities had a chance to explain what it was about. And so, early last week, Haaretz editor Dov Alfon approached credulous foreign journalists and spun a tale. By Alfon’s telling, Israel’s draconian Shin Bet security agency had “disappeared” one reporter – Anat Kamm – and caused another – Uri Blau – to flee the country.

via carolineglick.com

the Haaretz reporter interviewed and published comments in the story by one of the key people at the New Israel Fund event – and that person was none other than Dov Chanin (also spelled Khenin), a Knesset Member from the hard-core Israeli
communist party. That party has never gotten around to repudiating Stalinism.
Chanin is an unreformed Stalinist and cheerleader for Arab terror, but was being featured at a celebration of the New Israel Fund. He is quoted at length in Haaretz as saying that the “attacks” against the New Israel Fund represent a clear and present danger to Israeli democracy, and that it is essential for all good people to rush to the defense of the besieged Israeli democracy.
Got that? A Stalinist who has never gotten around to repudiating the Soviet regimes that produced a conservatively-estimated 100 million deaths in the 20th century and which suppressed all freedoms, including the right to vote, is suddenly alarmed that students who criticize the behavior of the New Israel Fund are a threat to Israeli democracy. And Haaretz cites him as if his words deserve serious attention. Chanin by the way has a PhD in political science from Tel Aviv University – many of whose department faculty members are communists.

Let’s see how they would treat Anat in some of those countries she is enabling…
“In the Islamic Republic it is illegal to execute a young woman, regardless of her crime, if she is a virgin, he explained. Therefore a “wedding” ceremony is conducted the night before the execution: The young girl is forced to have sexual intercourse with a prison guard – essentially raped by her “husband.” “I regret that, even though the marriages were legal,” he said. Why the regret, if the marriages were “legal?” “Because,” he went on, “I could tell that the girls were more afraid of their ‘wedding’ night than of the execution that awaited them in the morning. And they would always fight back, so we would have to put sleeping pills in their food. By morning the girls would have an empty expression; it seemed like they were ready or wanted to die. “I remember hearing them cry and scream after [the rape] was over,” he said. “I will never forget how this one girl clawed at her own face and neck with her finger nails afterwards. She had deep scratches all over her.” “

it is almost like the Iranians were Liberals. it’s only marriage after all. http://ff.im/7zlOK “Can an interrogator rape the prisoner in order to obtain a confession?” was the follow-up question posed to the Islamic cleric. Mesbah-Yazdi answered: “The necessary precaution is for the interrogator to perform a ritual washing first and say prayers while raping the prisoner. If the prisoner is female, it is permissible to rape through the vagina or anus. It is better not to have a witness present. If it is a male prisoner, then it’s acceptable for someone else to watch while the rape is committed.” This reply, and reports of the rape of teen male prisoners in Iranian jails, may have prompted the following question: “Is the rape of men and young boys considered sodomy?” Ayatollah Mesbah-Yazdi: “No, because it is not consensual. Of course, if the prisoner is aroused and enjoys the rape, then caution must be taken not to repeat the rape.””

http://www.israelnationalnews.com/News/News.aspx/133214 “One aspect of these permitted rapes troubled certain questioners: “What if the female prisoner gets pregnant? Is the child considered illegitimate?” Mesbah-Yazdi answered: “The child borne to any weakling [a denigrating term for women – ed.] who is against the Supreme Leader is considered illegitimate, be it a result of rape by her interrogator or through intercourse with her husband, according to the written word in the Koran. However, if the child is raised by the jailer, then the child is considered a legitimate Shi’a Muslim.”” Gateway Pundit: Ahmadinejad’s Spiritual Advisor: Raping Prisoners Is OK But Wash Your Hands First – http://gatewaypundit.blogspot.com/2009/09/ahmadinejads-spiritual-advisor-raping.html# (via http://ff.im/7zlOK) Fwd: Eye On The World: In Iran, Islam really is the Religion of Piece (of Ass) – http://eye-on-the-world.blogspot.com/2009/08/in-iran-islam-really-is-religion-of.html (via http://ff.im/6pjQI)
