About Lynne Torgerson:

Torgerson obtained degrees in Political Science and Psychology at the University of Minnesota before attending law school at William Mitchell College of Law. In law school, Torgerson was on Law Review and Moot Court. In 1990, she obtained her juris doctor degree, and graduated with honors. Following law school, Ms. Torgerson was a Law Clerk to the Honorable Ralph J. Geffen, United States Magistrate Judge, United Stated District Court, Central District of California, Los Angeles, California. Torgerson currently operates a successful law practice in downtown Minneapolis. Recently, Torgerson was named among Attorney of the Year by Minnesota Lawyer, the leading legal newspaper in Minnesota. She is also active in her church.

As a youth, Ms. Torgerson competed in gymnastics for many years. Her hard work and training earned her the achievement of 6th in nation when a teenager.

Ms. Torgerson attended the University of Minnesota, Minneapolis campus, graduating in 1985. She obtained degrees there in Political Science and Psychology.

After college, Ms. Torgerson attended law school at William Mitchell College of Law in Saint Paul, Minnesota. There she was on Law Review and Moot Court. In 1990, she obtained her juris doctor degree, graduating with honors.

After law school, Ms. Torgerson was a Law Clerk to the Honorable Ralph J. Geffen, United States Magistrate Judge, United Stated District Court, Central District of
California, Los Angeles, California.

Ms. Torgerson, a lawyer, has had her own successful law practice downtown Minneapolis since 1995. She is also active in her church and continues her athletics with aerobics.

Ms. Torgerson is now running for Congress in the Fifth Congressional District, in the State of Minnesota, seeking to represent you in the United States House of Representatives. Ms. Torgerson’s background makes her a perfect fit for this position.

WASHINGTON, Dec. 22 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ — A prominent national Muslim civil rights and advocacy organization announced today that its new public service announcement (PSA), called “I am Muslim, I am American,” began airing this morning on the CBS Super Screen in New York City’s Times Square.

The Washington-based Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR) said its New York chapter (CAIR-NY) produced the 15-second PSA, which will air every hour for 18 hours each day through January 16, 2010, on the 26-foot by 20-foot full-motion screen. More than one million people pass through Times Square each day.

CAIR-NY’s PSA features an American Muslim NYPD sergeant, as well as a Muslim Little League all-star, a human rights activist, a doctoral candidate, and an attorney. It begins with the statement, “Building Community, Serving Country.” Viewers are encouraged to visit CAIR’s Web site.

“This public service advertisement features ordinary American Muslims whose everyday lives are dedicated to building community and serving country,” said CAIR-NY Community Affairs Director Faiza N. Ali added that the PSA will air during the New Year’s Eve celebration in Times Square, when up to one million people turn out to watch the ball drop at midnight.

Awad noted that a 2007 study by the Pew Research Center described American Muslims as “middle class” and “mainstream.” The first-ever nationwide study said American Muslims are “largely assimilated, happy with their lives, and moderate with respect to many of the issues that have divided Muslims and Westerners around the world.”

Terrorist Front Group CAIR Promotes Islam to Times Square

An American Muslim advocacy group launched a massive advertisement in New York City’s famous Times Square on Tuesday in a bid to present to millions of Americans a “fair” and “accurate” portrayal of Islam.

The public service announcement, “I am Muslim, I am American,” was launched by the New York branch of the Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR)….

The advertisement starts with the statement “Building Community, Serving Country” and features American Muslims from all walks of life, including a police sergeant, a Little League all-star, a human rights activist, a doctoral candidate and an attorney.

…The campaign will run from Dec. 22 to Jan. 16, and will even be shown on New Year’s Eve, when at least one million people are expected to crowd Times Square for celebrations and the infamous countdown, when the ball drops at midnight.

“We have more than 400 million people going through Times Square and we thought this would be a good opportunity to send out a positive message about Muslims,” Ibrahim Cooper, CAIR’s national communications director, told Al Arabiya.

And for those who have never been to Times Square, Hooper explained that the advertisement will appear on the CBS Super Screen, which is a 26-foot by 20-foot full-motion screen, called a “JumboTron,” and will air 18 times a day.
